Virtual Challenges
What is this?
This year we challenge you to ride often and see how fast you can go!
Starting May 1st, and every two weeks after that, we’ll post a new route.
Whether you’re racing for the title of QOM/KOM (Queen/King of the Mountain), trying to beat your riding buddies, or setting a new personal record, we want to see you out on the trails!
How do I participate?
Simply join the BMSTC Strava Club and ride the current challenge route!
Those steps again:
Ride the current challenge route
You can ride it as many times as you want, and at the end of two weeks we’ll share the rankings.
And if you’re not yet a BMSTC member, join the club! Your membership dues go directly to the construction and maintenance of these trails.
Challenge #2
May 15 - 28, 2021
Sasquatch Challenge Alternate Route
The route starts above Intersection 3 on MERA Loop where you cross Archer Lane. Continue heading out on MERA Loop to the picnic tables. Head up past the new shelter on Caffeine, then at the road take a right and follow the road for a mile all the way to the start of Sasquatch. From there you climb and descend on Sasquatch, then Ricochet. When you hit the road after Ricochet, stay on it instead of taking that steep twisty climb on MERA Loop. Follow the road to where Whoopsy comes out, and hop back on MERA Loop there. Take that to the rock pit and continue on MERA loop to Intersection 3 where you take the hard right climb back up to Archer Lane where the route ends.
This modified Sasquatch Challenge swaps some singletrack for faster road sections to let riders rest and to speed up the course overall. Give it a shot and let us know what you think! This may be the race route in October.
If you’ve got any questions, you can ask in the Strava group or email us at bluemountainstc@gmail.com.
Past Challenges #1
May 1 - 14, 2021
Whoopsy / Pebbles / Lower Hot Shot
The route starts at Intersection 2 on MERA Loop where Lower Hot Shot connects. Continue heading out on MERA Loop towards Whoopsy. Take Whoopsy, then at the road take MERA Loop again to your right. Next is a left on Pebbles, and then you’re climbing Lower Hot Shot all the way back to Intersection 2 on MERA Loop. Be sure to take the hard right turn at the Igo TH onto Lower Hot Shot. If you climb Igo Lane from the trail head, Strava may not record your ride (and even if it does that’s not the challenge!).
